Primer - Adhesion Promoter

What is VViViD's Primer & What Can It Be Used For?

Well it's in the name! The Primer is formulated to promotes adhesion for vinyl wraps, PPF, VHB tapes and other products. It works effectively on a wide range of surfaces such as metal, plastic, rubber, concrete, wood, and beyond.

A great example of when you can use Primer is when you have a fender that curves inwards. These areas can pose a challenge for adhesion. By using our Primer, you can promote stronger adhesion to the surface. Additionally, our Primer is also great for edges which minimizes the risk of lifting and ensuring a secure fit for your wrap.

Instructions:

  1. Surface Preparation: Begin by ensuring that the bonding surface is completely clean and dry, free from any dirt, dust, or contaminants. Use a 50/50 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol and water with a lint-free cloth to clean the surface thoroughly. Allow the surface to air dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
  2. Primer Application: Shake the primer well before use to ensure proper mixing of the formula. Apply a thin, even coat of primer to the surface using a brush or swab, ensuring to use the minimum amount necessary to cover the surface adequately. It's important to allow the primer to dry thoroughly before applying any tape or vinyl. Typically, this drying process takes approximately 5 minutes at room temperature.
  3. Surface Protection: While the primer is drying, ensure that the primed surface remains free from any contaminants to maintain its integrity and effectiveness.
  4. Tape or Vinyl Application: Once the primer has dried completely, you can proceed to lay your vinyl or tape onto the primed surface. Ensure that the application is done smoothly and evenly for optimal results.
  5. Additional Primer Application: For porous surfaces that may require additional adhesion, a second coat of primer may be necessary to ensure uniform coverage and strong adhesion. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat.
